Cancer Care Unit
The Government of Kerala sanctioned one cancer project to Government Homoeopathic Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. The Cancer Care ward is reconstructed to accommodate nearly 15 patients. Two Homoeopathic consultants & two Nursing staffs & One Cleaner were appointed in the Cancer Care Unit . We provide Special O.P. & I.P with 24 x7 Doctor & Nursing care. These O.P. & I.P. were functioning from 19.11.2012 onwards.
The scope of Homoeopathy for cancer management varies depending on the type of cancer, stage of cancer and the general health of the patient etc. The selection of Homoeopathic Medicine should be according to the Homoeopathic Principle. For most of the very advanced cancer, Palliation is the only possible mean; medicine should also be selected accordingly to relieve the most distressing complaints. The advantage of administering Homoeopathic medicines in such cases is that there can be effective pain control without inducing any side effects & there by improving the general wellbeing and vitality of the patient. The diagnosis of cancer often leaves the patient with a sense of depression, anxiety and fear. The treatment may induce additional irritability, impatience and mood fluctuations. Homoeopathy can influence the psyche of the patient and help him to deal with these emotions in a better way. The doctors engaged in the cancer care unit should take in to consideration all these factors. The medicinal & other management should be according to the Homoeopathic Principles.
